Ranveer Singh Receives Threatening WhatsApp Voice Note Demanding Crores; Security Tightened Outside Actor’s Mumbai Home

Days after the firing incident at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence, Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has received a threatening message via a WhatsApp voice note, demanding crores of rupees. Following the threat, Ranveer immediately informed the Mumbai Police, after which security outside his residence was intensified. Police have launched a probe to trace the sender of the threatening voice message.

According to police sources, the threatening voice note was sent from an unknown number and warned Ranveer to “stop his activities or face consequences similar to Rohit Shetty.” The voice appeared unfamiliar and used a mix of Hindi and Marathi. Taking the threat seriously, Ranveer preserved the voice note and alerted the authorities. He is currently staying at home under heightened security.

The development comes shortly after director Rohit Shetty’s house was fired upon on the night of January 31, when 4–5 rounds were allegedly shot. Shetty was present at home at the time but escaped unhurt. Sources close to the film industry suspect that the threat to Ranveer could be linked to gang-related activities, as the Bishnoi gang’s name had surfaced during the investigation of the Rohit Shetty firing case.

In the Rohit Shetty firing case, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested four accused — Swapnil Sakat, Siddharth Yenpure, Samarth Pomaji and Aditya Gayki. A fifth accused, Asharam Fasle, identified as the weapons supplier, was also arrested.  Shubham Lonkar, remains absconding, and his social media posts reportedly mentioned gang affiliations. Police suspect that Ranveer Singh’s threat may have originated from the same network, as both Ranveer and Rohit Shetty have collaborated on action films such as Singham Again.

Police officials have confirmed that a special team has been formed to investigate the case, and WhatsApp call and message records are being thoroughly examined.
