Sanjay Raut Acquitted in Defamation Case Filed by BJP Leader Kirti Somaiya's Wife
A sessions court on Thursday, February 26, acquitted Shiv Sena UBT MP and leader Sanjay Raut in a defamation case filed by BJP leader Kirti Somaiya’s wife, Medha Somaiya. In 2024, the magistrate's court sentenced the Sena UBT leader to 15 days' imprisonment. The case stemmed from Raut’s allegations of a Rs 100 crore toilet scam in the Mira-Bhayandar region.
The sentence was later suspended for 30 days and he was granted bail. Raut then filed an appeal through his lawyer, Manoj Pingale. Medha’s advocates, Vivekanand Gupta and Laxman Kanal, said they would file an appeal in the Bombay High Court.
