India reported 42,015 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, as per the health ministry’s July 21 update. There has been less than one lakh new coronavirus cases for the last 43 days. As many as 3,998 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, new recoveries at 36,977 in the same period, the July 21 update stated. 

Among states, Uttar Pradesh administered the most (cumulative) vaccine doses at 4.15 crore, followed by Maharashtra at 4.01 crore and Gujarat at 3.01 crore.

The active cases have now come down below 5 lakh. India now has 4,07,170 active cases as per the July 21 update. The active cases constitute 1.30 per cent of the total cases.

Kerala has the highest number of active cases at 1,26,894 in the country followed by Maharashtra at 97,932, Tamil Nadu at 26,717, Karnataka at 26,279 and Andhra Pradesh at 23,843.

Maharashtra has carried out 14th reconciliation exercise of covid data in the State. As a result, the state’s positive case tally is increased by 2479 while the death tally is increased by 3,509 in the media bulletin dated 20th July 2021.

Maharashtra reported the most 3,656 new deaths, as per the July 21 update, followed by Kerala (104), Odisha (56), Tamil Nadu (30) and Karnataka (29). 

Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli/Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Himanchal Pradesh, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry     and Sikkim did not report any deaths today.

The total recoveries in India now stand over 3,03,90,687 with the recovery rate at 97.37 percent, as per the health ministry’s July 21 update. 

Total COVID-19 deaths in India now stand at 4,18,480 as per July 21 update. The mortality rate is now at 1.33 percent.

India commenced its COVID-19 vaccination drive on January 16 this year. Till date, 41,54,72,455 vaccine doses have been administered so far including 34,25,446 in the last 24 hours, under the nationwide vaccination drive.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 44,91,93,273 samples have been tested up to July 20 for Covid-19. Of these, 18,52,140 samples were tested on Tuesday.
