The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expelled Basangouda Patil Yatnal, its MLA from Bijapur City, Karnataka, for six years over repeated violations of party discipline. The party’s Central Disciplinary Committee issued the expulsion order on March 26, 2025.

In a letter to Yatnal, the committee stated it had reviewed his response to a show cause notice sent on February 10 and took serious note of his repeated misconduct. The committee concluded that he failed to adhere to party discipline despite previous assurances of good behavior. As a result, Yatnal was expelled with immediate effect and removed from any party positions he held. The order was signed by the committee’s member secretary, Om Pathak.
