‘Lack of Sleep’: Kerala Software Engineer Dies by Suicide Due to Work Stress; Family Demands Action
A 23-year-old software engineer working for an IT company in Kerala's Kottayam allegedly died by suicide on Saturday, April 6, due to work-related stress. Police rushed to the scene, recovered the body, and sent it for postmortem. The incident is currently under investigation. The deceased has been identified as Jacob Thomas, who was employed at a private company in Kakkanad. Before taking the extreme step, Jacob made a final video call to his mother, during which he spoke about the pressure he was facing at work.
The incident occurred on Saturday in Kottayam and has sent shockwaves through the community. Jacob, a resident of the Kanjikuzhi area, ended his life by jumping from the building where he lived. He had told his parents that he could no longer cope with the workload. A video message he sent to his mother was followed by the fatal fall. A suicide note was also found in his room, mentioning the unbearable stress and lack of sleep due to his job.

Jacob had joined the company in December last year after completing his education. Within just four months, the overwhelming work pressure drove him to this tragic decision. His family, devastated by the loss, has filed a police complaint and is demanding action against the company.
