The police notice states that the students attempted to offer namaz near Lal Baradari and staged a protest by sitting on the road in front of the canteen. According to the report, these activities affected the academic atmosphere on campus and interrupted ongoing construction work. The administration believes the incident created tension among students and had the potential to lead to a major disturbance.
To maintain order, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Metropolitan) has imposed strict conditions. All 13 students have been asked to submit a personal bond of Rs 50,000, along with two sureties of Rs 50,000 each. In a viral video, it can be seen that Muslim students offering namaz while student leaders forming a human chain went viral with students describing the gesture as “Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb” and a message that the university is not a place for discriminatiobased onof religion, caste, creed or culture.
Shubham Kharwar, a student of Lucknow University, said, "Some Muslims students offered Namaz outside Lal Baradari as they were not allowed to offer Namaz inside the Lal Baradari. Notices were issued to students regarding this. We will hold a protest against the closure of the gates of Lal Baradari."
