Madhya Pradesh Shocker: Man Injured After Second-Hand Mobile Explodes in His Pocket
A shocking incident has come to light in Madhya Pradesh, where a young man suffered serious injuries after his mobile phone exploded in his pocket while riding a bike. The explosion caused him to lose balance and fall, resulting in a severe head injury. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, and his condition is now reported to be stable.
Arvind (19), a resident of Sarangpur, earns a living by selling panipuri. On Tuesday, he was returning to his village, Nainwada, after purchasing vegetables from the market when the mobile phone in his trouser pocket suddenly exploded. The blast caused him to lose control of his bike, leading to a hard fall that left him with serious head injuries.
Passersby quickly came to his aid and arranged for an ambulance to transport him to Sarangpur Civil Hospital. After receiving first aid, he was referred to Shajapur for further treatment. Arvind’s brother revealed that he had saved money to buy a second-hand mobile phone. He had charged it overnight before placing it in his pocket while heading to the market. The explosion occurred while he was on his way back home.
Mobile operator Bhagwan Singh Rajput explained that faulty batteries in old mobile phones are often replaced with low-quality Chinese batteries, which lack durability. He warned that overcharging such batteries—especially for more than an hour—can cause them to overheat and explode. He advised people to avoid buying old or refurbished mobile phones and to be cautious when using Chinese batteries.
