Muzaffarnagar: Burqa-Clad Woman Assaulted, Hijab Stripped by Mob for Roaming With Man; 6 Arrested in UP

At least six people were arrested after their video of assaulting a burqa-clad woman and stripping her hijab in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district went viral on the internet. The incident occurred on April 12, when a Muslim woman with a Hindu man visited the area.

In the viral video, it can be seen that the man forcibly pulled her scarf, and others were making the video of the incident. Some people in the mob were abusing and assaulting her. The incident took place in the Khalapar area when both 20-year-old Farheen and a man named Sachin were going to collect a loan instalment from some financial institute.

The victim was identified as Farheen, a resident of Khalapar and daughter of Farhana. The 2-year-old worked with a financing company, Utkarsh Small Finance Limited, and was travelling on a motorcycle with Sachin on her mother's instructions, as per the India Today report.

On their way, a group of 8-10 men stopped them and allegedly abused and physically assaulted them. The incident learned to be recorded by an eyewitness and shared on social media platforms. Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and dispersed the crowd and safely rescued the couple to the police station.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BMCSM) after Farheen filed a complaint. According to the police, on April 12 between 4 to 4.30 pm, a Muslim girl and a Hindu man from Bhavan area working in the same company Utkarsh Small Finance Bank in Sujdu after collecting loan amount, they were stopped by mob and assaulted them. 
 
The six accused were arrested by the police after the woman filed a complaint. Later, all the accused were seen limping at the police station and were escorted by cops.
