Punjab Blast: Loco Pilot Injured In Low-Intensity Explosion On Amritsar-Delhi Line Ahead of Republic Day, Security on Alert
A train loco pilot was injured in a low-intensity blast on the Amritsar-Delhi line in Punjab ahead of Republic Day. The incident put security and police on high alert. The explosion took place near Sirhind station in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib district.
The injured loco pilot of a goods train was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The blast occurred at around 10 pm on Friday, January 23, when a goods train was passing through Khanpur village. However, there was no loss of life or property in the incident, while the railway track sustained minor damage.
According to the police, the explosion occured on the track was meant for Amritsar-Delhi goods trains, located far from Sirhind railway station, while a railway foot-plating vehicle was moving from Mandi Gobindgarh towards Sirhind near Khanpur village.
Security has been increased across the area after receiving the information, said Fatehgarh Sahib Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shubham Agrawal. Teams from Fatehgarh Sahib district police, including Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and forensic units, reached the spot. An FIR has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
