The BJP has finalised its candidate for the by-election to the Ludhiana West Assembly seat in Punjab on Saturday, May 31. After much deliberation, the party has announced Jeevan Gupta as its candidate. Gupta is a former general secretary of the BJP Punjab and is currently a core group member of the state unit. A senior leader within BJP Punjab, Jeevan Gupta has played an active role in the party's organisational activities. His name had previously featured among the probable candidates for the Ludhiana West seat.

The BJP, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Congress are set to contest the Ludhiana West by-election. AAP has fielded Sanjeev Arora, who filed his nomination on Friday, May 30. Meanwhile, the Congress has shown confidence in former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and has declared him as its candidate. He, too, has filed his nomination.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has nominated Parupkar Singh Ghumman for the seat. There had been anticipation over when the BJP would announce its candidate, especially with the last date for filing nominations being June 2. With the announcement of Jeevan Gupta as its candidate, the BJP has now ended the suspense and completed the field of major contenders for the bypoll.

The by-election to the Ludhiana West Assembly seat will be held on June 19, 2025, and the results will be declared on June 23.
