A heartbreaking incident has taken place in Nawanshahr district of Punjab. On Tuesday, the assistant general manager of GR Infra Company, which was constructing the Ropar-Phagwara main road and flyover, strangled his wife to death and then cremated her body at home. Police at the Banga city police station seized the body from the house on the information of other company officials. Police have arrested the accused and a case has been registered against him.

Vijay Kumar, in-charge of the station, said Anil Kumar, a resident of Kuch Mattha village in Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh, is posted as assistant general manager at GR Infra. The company is building a flyover at Banga. The accused was living in Banga's NRI colony with his wife Anupama and three children. On Tuesday evening, Anil came to the company's office with his eight-year-old son, five-year-old daughter and three-year-old son. There he dined with his three children. Other employees present at the time asked Anil Kumar about his wife's absence. But he gave no concrete answer.

Shortly afterwards, Anil told one of his superior Balbir Singh that he was suspicious of his wife Anupama. Because of which he strangled Anupama and cremated her body. According to the station in-charge, company official Balbir Singh later informed the police about the matter. Police arrested Anil. Police have recovered Anupama's body from the accused's house in NRI Colony. The body has been sent her body for autopsy after being taken into custody.
