The State Bank of India (SBI) has notified its customers that certain banking services will be temporarily unavailable on April 1, 2025, due to the bank’s Annual Closing activities. The announcement was made via an official post on X (formerly known as Twitter).This scheduled downtime is essential for banks to finalize financial records, reconcile accounts, and ensure a seamless transition into the new financial year. Customers are advised to plan their transactions accordingly to avoid any inconvenience, the lender said in a post. Downdetector data shows a sharp rise in outage reports for SBI’s mobile banking and fund services, with complaints peaking between 11 to 11:30 am IST. About 64% of reported issues were related to mobile banking, 33% to fund transfer, and 3% to ATM issues. Users have taken to social media to express concerns about failed transactions, with many reporting delays in payments and difficulties accessing their accounts.

According to the SBI website, due to Annual Closing activity, Internet Banking, Retail, Merchant, Yono Lite, CINB, Yono Business Web & Mobile App, YONO, and UPI services will be unavailable from 13:00 IST to 16:00 IST on 1st April 2025. During this period, UPI Lite and ATM services will remain available. Meanwhile, new UPI rules have kicked in from today. Starting April 1, mobile number records will be updated weekly by banks and UPI apps to reduce transaction processing errors. Due to security concerns, banks and UPI providers will gradually remove dormant UPI-linked numbers. Inactive numbers cannot be used to make payments.
