In a shocking incident, wedding celebrations turned ugly after a newlywed bride collapsed and died after suffering a massive heart attack during her ‘bidaai’ ceremony on Friday morning in Odisha’s Sonepur district.

The deceased identified as Gupteswari Sahoo (Rosy), daughter of Murali Sahoo and Menaka of Julunda village was declared dead after she was rushed to hospital after collapsing. 

On Thursday evening, Rosy tied the knot with Bisikesan Pradhan of Tentulu village.

On Friday morning when the family members were preparing for the ‘bidaai’ (bride leaving father’s house for in-law’s place) ceremony, Rosy who was crying inconsolably, suddenly fainted and collapsed on the ground.

Although family members and relatives of the newlywed couple present at the spot tried to wake her up by spraying water on her face, she did not gain consciousness.

Subsequently, she was rushed to the Dunguripallu CHC in a vehicle but the doctors declared her brought dead. The doctors later confirmed that Rosy had died due to cardiac failure.
