Haneef Ali, Member Central Waqf Council on Tuesday said that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar must be booked under provisions of the Criminal Act for the demolition of religious structures at Secretariat Complex on July 7.

While speaking to he alleged that places of worship are continuously being demolished in Telangana.

"It is very sad that after the formation of Telangana State, places of worship are being demolished continuously. Recently at Secretariat one Temple and two mosques have been demolished. Right now, the whole world is busy fighting against the coronavirus Pandemic but our Chief Minister is busy demolishing the structure. It is a criminal act, and Telangana Chief Minister and Chief Secretary are responsible for this criminal act, and whoever had demolished it must be booked under the Criminal Act," he said.

"The chief minister has said that in the new Secretariat premises itself, new structures will be constructed. We condemn it and demand serious action. Representatives of various orgsations are giving a complaint at police stations. I request the DGP Telangana and Commissioner of Police Hyderabad to accept the complaint and file a case against them" he added.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had on Sunday condemned the demolition of a mosque and a temple inside the Secretariat building and demanded the arrest of the contractor for the demolition.

Earlier, Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party chief Spokesperson K Krishna Saagar Rao had slammed the state Government for demolishing Hindu Temple in secretariat complex saying destroying a temple is blasphemy and the State government has considered neither the sanctity of the temple, emotions of those who pray there nor the sentiments of the Hindus in the State.
