Uttar Pradesh Bus Accident: School Bus Overturns into Ditch with 35 Students Onboard

A tragic accident took place in Meerut on the Daurala-Lawad road, a school bus carrying 35 students went out of control and overturned into a roadside ditch. Fortunately, a major tragedy was averted as the bus came to a halt after crashing into a tree. This incident occurred on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 morning at 7:30 AM. More than 10 children were injured in the accident. Chaos ensued at the scene after the incident. People present nearby rushed to help.

On the Daurala-Lawad route, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the bus to veer off the road and overturn into a ditch. After overturning, the bus struck a tree, which significantly slowed its momentum. Had it not been for this tree, the bus would likely have plunged deeper into the ditch, potentially resulting in a heavy loss of life.

Immediately after the accident, passersby and local residents rushed to the bus to rescue the students, breaking windows and using the doors for safe evacuation. Police arrived quickly and controlled the scene. The injured students were immediately hospitalized, and as news spread, anxious parents gathered at the hospital. Fortunately, most students had only minor injuries and, after a preliminary examination, the uninjured were released to their parents.

The police have registered a case regarding this incident and have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Police officials stated that they are currently investigating whether the accident was caused by excessive speed or a technical malfunction in the bus.
