Panaji, Nov 12 A Bihar-like mahagathbandhan will cut no ice in Goa in the 2022 state assembly polls, state BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavade said on Thursday, saying the people of Goa are united with the BJP and not against it.

"They tried to have a mahagathbandhan in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP was contesting independently. So the concept is not new, but it will not work," Tanavade told a press conference in Panaji at the party's state headquarters.

"Same is the situation in the rest of the country, where parties are pooling together. But the people believe in the BJP. The opposition parties may have a mahagathbandhan against the BJP, but the same sentiment does not percolate down to the people of Goa," Tanavade said.

The National Democratic Alliance and its major partners, the Janata Dal (United) and Bharatiya Janata Party alliance won a majority in the recently conducted Bihar state assembly polls, beating a mahagathbandhan between the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress and Left parties.
