Thane: 23-Year-Old Drug Addict Held For Pelting Stone On Vande Bharat Train Near Thakurli

Thane: Passengers traveling from the Mumbai-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat had a frightening experience, as a 23-year-old man allegedly threw stone at the train at Thakurli station. This incident occurred on Friday, March 13, 2026 following which police has arrested the accused.

Fortunately no one was hurt in this incident, but due to stone pelting the premium train suffered extensive damage. Fragments of the glass hit some passengers, leading to chaos in the coach. During attack passengers click photos of the incident and alerted the Central Railway control room. A team of the Railway Protection Force and railway police rushed to the site. 

According to PTI reports after seeing police, accused Sunny Kamble (Resident of Pune) tried to run however, a search operation along the tracks between Patripool and Thakurli, leading to Kamble's arrest from a building nearby, the official said.

Officials said "During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and revealed he is addicted to ganja. Kamble was booked under sections 153and 147 (entering railway premises without permission) of Railways Act."

Police are probing if Kamble, who is lodged in Aadharwadi Jail in Kalyan, was involved in a recent incident near Thakurli where a thief struck a passenger on Sinhagad Express to steal an expensive mobile phone, the official said.
