Thane Crime: 19-Year-Old Held with Illegal Weapons in Late-Night Police Raid in Kalyan

In a startling late-night operation, the Bazar Peth Police in Kalyan West apprehended a 19-year-old mobile phone repair technician after uncovering a stash of illegal weapons at his residence in Yusuf Heights, located in the Ghas Bazar area. The action followed a tip-off received during routine night patrolling, which indicated that a युवक was allegedly storing weapons inside a flat in the building’s B-wing. Treating the information as credible, officers quickly escalated it through the chain of command and formed a dedicated team to verify the input and take necessary action.

A police team led by Assistant Police Inspector Prashant Andhale, under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Sureshsingh Gaud, reached the location to conduct a raid. At approximately 11 pm, officers knocked on the door, which was opened by Gausiya Ashiya Hanif Sayyed, who appeared visibly anxious upon seeing the police. A search of the premises was then carried out in the presence of a महिला police officer to ensure due procedure. During the operation, the accused, identified as Yuvesh Hanif Sayyed, was found inside the house and detained for questioning.

During interrogation, Yuvesh allegedly confessed to possessing the weapons. The police recovered a sharp knife, a gupti (fist dagger), and an iron weapon from the residence. All seized items were carefully documented and recorded in the presence of independent panch witnesses, following established legal protocols. After completing the necessary procedures, the police took Yuvesh into custody. A formal case was registered against him at the Bazar Peth Police Station for illegal possession of prohibited arms and for breaching existing police prohibitory orders.

Initial investigations revealed that the accused works as a mobile phone repair technician. However, authorities are yet to determine the motive behind storing such weapons or how he acquired them. Police officials have initiated a detailed probe to examine whether Yuvesh has any connections with criminal networks or if the weapons were intended for unlawful use. Further investigation is underway to uncover the source of the arms and assess any potential threat linked to the case.
