Aurangabad, Nov 20:

The schools and colleges will run classes from standard IX to XII from Monday (November 23). Hence the officials from education and health departments have swung into action to conduct RT-PCR tests of all the teaching and non-teaching staff. In the past two days, eight teachers and one non-teaching staff were Covid positives.

There are 8,818 teachers and 2,665 non-teaching personnel (total 11,483) in the district. The health personnel started swab collection from Thursday. " The health teams collected swab samples of 1460 teachers and 178 non-teaching personnel (total 1646 persons) at the 64 centres for RT-PCR tests in the past two days. Of which, eight teachers and one non-teaching staff were found Coronavirus infected," said the education officer (secondary) B B Chavan.

In the last two days, health personnel collected samples of 14 per cent staff, while the tests of the remaining 9,800 staff (86 pc) had to be done on Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, officials of both education and health departments are worried whether they would be able to complete the target in just two days?

According to the order, teachers must undergo a test or else he will not be allowed entry in the classroom without the test report. Meanwhile, the teachers'' fraternity has panicked after their eight colleagues were detected as Covid positive. These infected teachers hail from Phulambri, Aurangabad, Kannad and Paithan tehsils. They are undergoing treatment in Covid Care Centres. Majority of the remaining tests which are to be done are from Sillod, Kannad, Vaijapur, Gangapur and Phulambri tehsils.
