721 Covid patients undergoing treatment; AMC gears up to tackle situation

Aurangabad, Nov 23:

The health administration at Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has geared up after a rise in reporting of Covid-19 patients had been increased in the city limits for the past few days. Presently, 721 patients are undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals in the city.

The health officer Dr Neeta Padalkar said," Of the total active Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment in the city, 611 patients hail from areas of the city, 93 are from various tehsils in the district (outside AMC limit), and 17 are from other neighbouring districts (out of Aurangabad district)."

After receiving the hint of a second wave of Coronavirus in the state, the civic administration has swung into action to maintain the functioning of health administration. There are 13,000 antigen test kits and 25,000 RT-PCR test kits in the stock, apart from 2,000 state-of-the-art beds (would increase more), it is learnt.

" The city has witnessed the spread of Coronavirus since March. Till today, 27,211 patients got Coronavirus infected, 25,789 had got discharged, 811 had succumbed to the ailment, and 721 are undergoing treatments in various hospitals of the city," said Dr Padalkar expressing concern over the growing rise in reporting of Covid patients, these days.

The new patients are from old city''s densely populated areas like Shahgunj, Raja Bazaar, Delhi Gate, Begumpura, Bhausinghpura, Baijipura, Indiranagar, Roshan Gate, Ghati Parisar, Satara Parisar, Padegaon, Mitmita and Kanchanwadi. The patients from high profile localities like Vedantnagar, Balajinagar, Devgiri Valley, Bhagyanagar, Dwarkanagari, Tilaknagar and Pratapgadnagar are also traced.
