Aurangabad, April 12:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has received a fund of Rs 15.75 crore under the 15th Central Finance Commission (CFC) for improvement in the existing water supply system and implement solid waste management (SWM) effectively. The AMC will be utilising the CFC fund to undertake measures to increase water lifting capacity from the source and develop new garbage collection centres in the city under SWM.

It may be noted that the CFC today distributed Rs 396.50 crore as a second instalment of the financial year 2020-21. Out of which, the AMC got the share of around Rs 16 crore. As reported earlier, the AMC had undertaken the ambitious Sewage Upgradation and Development Programme (SUDP), but due to lack of fund, the works had been left incomplete. As a result, the drainage waste through various chambers continues to be released in the Kham River. Hence, the AMC is planning to use Rs 10 crore to complete these incomplete SUDP works, while the remaining money will be utilised for water supply and SWM works, it is learnt.
