Aurangabad, Feb 9:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator A K Pandey has inaugurated the Swachhata Premier League (SPL) at Maulana Azad Research Centre today.

Head of solid waste management cell Nandkishore Bhombe highlighted the journey of Cleanliness Survey in the city from 2012 till to date. He urged all the sanitary staff to take a vow and work by setting a target so that the city could shine in the Cleanliness Survey 2021.

CARPE's Natasha Zarine and Gauri Mirashi explained in details about the SPL and how the AMC will evaluate each sanitary personnel's performance every month. It will help to plan workforce and excel in the Cleanliness Survey 2021.

Pandey applauded the services extended by the sanitary staff during the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the city.

The guidance was also given on safety measures and kits to be used by sanitary staff, three material recovery centres, garbage vulnerable points, developing plastic-free drains etc.

Pandey also praised the role of rag pickers. There are three dry garbage segregation centres in the city. They are at Central Naka, Kanchanwadi and Ramnagar. Hence he feted one woman rag picker of each centre on occasion.
