Aurangabad, July 14:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) started the Pneumococcal vaccination campaign on Wednesday to reduce the death ratio of children from Pneumonia.

There is a rise in mortality of children from Pneumonia in the country. The AMC, which received directives from the Central Government, commenced the vaccination drive from Hudco N-11 Hospital today.

A total of three doses are administered to a child to protect him/her from Pneumonia. The first dose is given when a child is 45 days old, while the second dose is administered on completion of three months of age and the third on nine months. It has set a target to administer the doses to 20,000 children.
