Aurangabad, Feb 25:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has issued a work order to the contractor to establish an oxygen plant of 20 Kilolitres (KL) capacity at Meltron Covid Care Centre today.

The work is expected to complete in 45 days, claimed AMC sources. The plant will provide oxygen facilities to 300 patients at the above CCC.

It may be noted that due to the rise in Covid-19 patients, there was a severe shortage of oxygen for the patients during the last year. As a result, the oxygen cylinders were transported from Nagpur and Raigad. After assessing the situation, the health administration had decided to set up oxygen plants in Aurangabad and Jalna.

The estimated cost of the plant at Meltron is Rs 4.5 crore. Two days ago, the district collector informed the AMC through a letter about granting the fund for the plant.

The municipal officer of health (MoH), Dr Neeta Padalkar confirmed about receiving the letter saying as soon as the fund-letter got received, the AMC issued the work order to the contractor to start the work of the oxygen plant."
