Aurangabad, Dec 8:

Wholesalers in Jadhavwadi Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) observed a strict shutdown demanding a repeal of the new farm laws. There was only an inflow of vegetables in the morning.

Traders were outraged by the discriminatory agricultural laws that allowed sale of farm produce outside the market, and no market fees for buying and selling goods outside the APMC. Some farmers had brought in vegetables. The retailers carried out business, but the wholesalers performed no transactions. The APMC wore a deserted look throughout the day. Even the gate of the sale hall was not opened today. The Maharashtra Labor union and Marathwada Labor union staged a protest in front of the market committee at 10 am, demanding the repeal of three agricultural laws, and implementation of Mathadi Act. General secretary Subhash Lomte gave a memorandum of demand to APMC assistant secretary K R Chavan.
