Aurangabad, Nov 4:

The appointment of an administrator on the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) here has been challenged in the Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court through a civil application. The next hearing will be held on November 25 after the Diwali holiday.

On Wednesday, a hearing was held in front of the bench comprising of Justice S V Gangapurwala and Justice R G Avchat regarding the petition seeking extension of the term of the board of directors (BOD) of the APMC. Radhakishan Pathade and 13 other directors had filed a petition in the bench seeking extension by 6 months. The petition states that the government has given an extension of 6 months to some APMCs in the state as elections could not be held due to Covid-19. However, the BOD of the APMC was not given an extension. While the petition was pending, the term of the BOD had expired and the commissioner of cooperation had appointed the district deputy registrar as the APMC administrator. His appointment was challenged by a civil application made through adv Siddheshwar Thombre. Chief public prosecutor D R Kale is working on behalf of the government.
