Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accorded Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) ‘A-plus’ grade on Thursday.

This is the highest ever grade received by the university during its history.

It may be noted that the State Government made NAAC evaluation compulsory for all the higher educational institutions. The university's third NAAC cycle tenure ended recently. Bamu’s internal quality assurance cell (IQAC) filed a Self-Study Report (SSR) for re-accreditation (fourth cycle) a few months ago.

The university made all preparations on a war footing during the last three to face the fourth cycle of the evaluation. The grade helps to get funding, grants, and projects from the different agencies and departments of the State and central governments.

The NAAC Peer Team visited both campuses of the university from October 22 to 24.

After validating the data, NAAC, headquartered in Bengaluru, sent the seven-member team for the three-day evaluation of academic and administrative departments.

The team was headed by Dr A N Roy while members were Vimla M (member coordinator), Dr Vishal Goyal, Roveru Nagaraj, Gyanendra Kumar Raut, Sabiyasi Sarekhed and K S Chandrasekhar.

The result of this evaluation was expected on October 31.

The Bamu administration received the information on the result of the evaluation today. NAAC accorded an A-plus grade to the university with a 3.38 CGPA.
