Aurangabad, May 8:

The cash-strapped Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has landed into trouble as the Bengaluru-based company, which supply's Remdesivir injections, has demanded to clear old dues of Rs 57 lakh, before the dispatch of the new order.

Two months ago, considering the possible wave of Coronavirus, the civic body bought 10,000 injections from the company but had not paid the bills. In the meantime, the AMC placed a fresh order of 6,000 injections. In response to this, the company took the above stand.

Earlier, the injection was supplied to AMC for Rs 600 per injection. Later on, the rates were increased to Rs 1400 and the AMC okayed it. In the meantime, the AMC has decided to procure these 6,000 injections and the expense will be made from the sanctioned fund.

Previously, 300 injections were used daily in Meltron CCC. Now, there is no injection in the stock. As a result, the AMC is focussing on curing patients without injections. This pushes us to think whether the AMC was using the injections without any planning in a wrong way till now; were the patients given the injections without considering the need and if those patients face any side effect then who would be responsible for it?
