Aurangabad, Feb 16:

A case was registered at Pundalikanagar police station on Tuesday against a woman along with her brother and another accomplice for demanding Rs 51 lakh ransom and a 2BHK flat from Mohammad Atik Mohammad Siddique Motiwala for threatening to register a rape case and defaming him on social media.

The accused are Syed Shahin Ali, her brother Syed Tousif alias Sonu Kamar Ali and Raj (all residents of Jalannagar, Railway Station area). It is learned that the complainant Mohammad Atik and the accused woman became friends in 2014 in a four-wheeler showroom. The accused woman was working there. In the meantime, they became friends. She was financially assisted by the complainant when she was fired. Seeing that the complainant was a wealthy and distinguished citizen, she started defaming him on social media from November 2020. Not only that but one day she entered their house and beat his wife. A case was registered against her at Pundalikanagar police station.

Even after this, she continued to blackmail the complainant. The complainant gave her Rs 11 lakh in three stages and an iPhone worth Rs 59,900. She then rendered an apology and a compromise affidavit. However, she and her brother and another man continued threatening the complainant and demanding Rs 51 lakh in cash and a 2 BHK flat. They are threatening to file a case of rape if the matter is not settled soon. Atik lodged a ransom case against the accused at Pundalikanagar police station today. AI Ghanshyam Sonawane said that the police have started an investigation.
