Aurangabad, Oct 16:

The district collector Sunil Chavan has ordered the Deputy Director of Land Record (DDLR) to submit its inquiry report against its officials, involved in Gulmarg Housing Society (on Beed Bypass Road) land scam in two days.

The society office-bearers had submitted their complaint to the minister of state (MoS) for revenue Abdul Sattar, who then ordered the collector to probe the matter. As a result, the collector sent a letter to DDLR (on October 14) stating that he has to submit an inquiry report in connection with the above housing society to the state government in 10 days, as a result, he (DDLR) should submit the inquiry report to the collectorate, in two days.

The society was established on 5 acres and 21 gunthas of land, bearing Gut Number 71, way back in 1984. A 15-metres wide road adjacent to the society was existing. The AMC sanctioned many building permissions to the builders in this area on condition that they will develop this 15-metres wide road. Moreover, the builders enjoyed concessions against the undertaking. Meanwhile, the land mafia got active, and they prepared a bogus map of the society to grab the road. The bogus maps were also submitted to the AMC to obtain building permission. Later on, the AMC instigated the inquiry, and it revealed that the maps were fake. The civic body also filed offences in this regard. However, no action was taken against any officers and personnel from the Land Record office who had helped the mafia in preparing bogus maps, till today. Hence the society office-bearers knocked the doors of government for justice.

The government has proposed a departmental inquiry against officers guilty in the matter. Meanwhile, the sensation has prevailed amongst the Land Record officers and employees after DDLR received the collector''s letter.
