Aurangabad, Dec 18:
Every year, 8,000 to 10,000 students apply for apprenticeship in companies at Waluj, Shendra, Railway Station and Paithan MIDCs in Aurangabad. However, this year, due to Covid-19, the exams of the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) have been postponed. As a result, companies are now unable to get students for apprenticeships.
According to industrialists, every year, after the results of the ITI exam, the students apply to various companies for a one-year apprenticeship. The students get practical experience of working in the company and also get an honorarium. Companies also take advantage of the innovative ideas shared by the students. These companies also offer permanent jobs to some students. Every year more than 1,500 students from Aurangabad district do apprenticeship in various companies. However, corona lockdown was carried out across the country from March 23 this year. As a result, school and college examinations could not be held. So this year ITI students have not applied to the company for an apprenticeship. According to Massia president Abhay Hanchanal, "The lockdown in the state had adversely affected industries and businesses. However, companies are back on track. Companies currently need students doing ITI apprenticeships. However, despite the need, companies are not getting students for the apprenticeship. However, more than 400 ITI students were given jobs by the companies in the past two years, he said.
