Aurangabad, March 24:

Sudhakar Shinde, chief executive officer, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Janarogya Yojana, on Wednesday instructed to make the area where the high number of patients are found to be a 'containment zone' and bring the situation under control by strictly following the rules. It is important to note that the city still does not have any containment zone.

Shinde was speaking at a review meeting on corona infection and preventive measures at the collector office. He directed that RTPCR tests should be intensified immediately to curb the growing number of patients in the district in a timely manner. Tests should be done for 10 people per infected person, all hospitals are required to keep beds empty for critically ill patients as per the rules. Shinde also instructed to take action against hospitals where unneeded patients are found to be admitted to the intensive care unit. Also, a report should be submitted by analyzing all the information about the treatment given to patients right from their admission. He also suggested that the information about the treatment facilities and preventive measures should be updated regularly and uploaded on the website. District collector Sunil Chavan, Municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey, ZP chief executive officer Dr Mangesh Gondawale, all the concerned nodal officers including, heads of concerned agencies were present.

Claims made by the administration

District collector Chavan said that the number of tests is being increased in the district. The laboratory of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University has the capacity to test 1,500 swab samples every day and GMCH has the capacity to test 2,500 swabs. Municipal commissioner Pandey said that 104 test centres have started. Corona tests were being conducted at 38 centres in the city and 66 in rural areas. In the second wave, the infection is increasing in rural areas. Gondawale said.
