The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) had extended the deadline to pay various charges levied on the industries till September 30 in the wake of the lockdown. However, due to the prevalence of Covid-19, the deadline has been further extended for another three months. Entrepreneurs will now be able to pay various fees till December 31. There will be no delay charge.

As per the provisions of MIDC Disposal of Land Regulation, 1975 under the Maharashtra Industrial Development Act, MIDC provides allotment of plots to industries and related services. For this, premium, transfer fee, additional premium, sub-rental fee etc. are charged as per rules. The entrepreneur is allowed to make use of the facilities only after paying the relevant fee. If the entrepreneur does not pay the fee during the set period, he is charged a late fee. However, due to the outbreak of Covid-19, all industries in the state were closed from March 22. Although all the industries were started in phases, due to financial constraints, many were not able to pay these fees on time. Therefore, the MIDC had initially given industries an extension till September 30. However, the deadline has been further extended to December 31 as the incidence of coronavirus is still high.

Extension for development period

Industrial plots whose development period had ended in lockdown were extended till September 30. Now the deadline has been further extended again and the plots can be developed till December 31. The authority for the development period is vested to the chief executive officer of the MIDC. However, due to the high number of cases, these powers have been decentralized and given to the concerned regional officers and deputy CEOs.
