Aurangabad, Nov 18:

Aurangabad district, which was hit by heavy rains has received a fund of Rs 143.7 crore in the first phase from the government. The funds will be distributed to the distressed farmers who lost their crops to the torrential rains. The process of tehsil wise allocation of funds in the district was underway on Wednesday.

The farmers had been demanding financial help for the damage caused by heavy rains to crops in the rainy season. Excessive rainfall and floods have damaged more than 33 per cent of crops in the district. Taking note, the state government had announced assistance Rs 10,000 per hectare for loss of crops under cultivation and Rs 25,000 for perennial crops per hectare. For the distribution of this fund, work has been undertaken at tehsil offices. The officials are preparing a list of affected areas and the number of farmers.
