Aurangabad, Nov 4:

The municipal anti-encroachment squad on Wednesday removed illegal construction made close to open space near the walls of Harsul jail at Harsul T-point.

In the past few years, some citizens had encroached on the open space adjacent to the boundary wall of the Harsul prison. These encroachments consisted of a washing center and few hand carts. A few months back, the municipal anti-encroachment squad had issued a notice to the concerned encroachers requesting them to remove the encroachment on their own. Despite this notice, the trespassers continued their business. On Wednesday, under the guidance of additional commissioner Ravindra Nikam, a team of officer Savita Sonawane, Vasant Bhoye, R S Rachtwar, Building inspector Mazhar Ali, Syed Jamshid, Ravindra Desai, P B Gawli, PI Hashmi, Sachin Ingole took action. The concrete construction for the washing center was demolished with the help of JCB. In addition, three tea carts were seized. The prison administration had demanded immediate removal of the encroachments adjacent to the prison. Police bandobast was also deployed while removing the encroachment.
