Four-year-old boy drowns in water pit at brick kiln

A four-year-old boy drowned in a water pit prepared for brick-making at Pendapur Shivar in Khairgawhan village of the Gangapur tehsil on Thursday around 6 pm.
The deceased has been identified as Viraj Rohidas Lonkar (4). Rohidas Lonkar, who runs a brick kiln business, resides with his family at Khairgawhan in Pendapur Shivar. On Thursday evening, after returning from a wedding, Rohidas and his family were working at the brick kiln when their son Viraj, while playing nearby around 6 pm, accidentally fell into the water pit prepared for brick production. As soon as the family and relatives noticed the incident, they rushed to the pit, pulled the child out, and admitted him in an unconscious condition to the Sub-District Hospital. Dr. Sajid Sheikh examined Viraj and declared him dead. As of late night, no case had been registered at Gangapur Police Station.
