The Lions Eye Hospital, set up by the Lions Club of Chikalthana, has organized a free retina screening camp on Republic Day. The camp is organized for patients suffering from diabetic retinopathy.

Established fourteen years ago, Lions Eye Hospital has reached a milestone in cataract surgery in Marathwada and more than 60 per cent of cataract surgeries in the division have been performed here. The eye hospital has been providing free services to the needy and also to others at very reasonable rates for the last fourteen years. For patients suffering from diabetic retinopathy, the retina department of the hospital is starting from January 26 and a free retina screening camp has been organized in the hospital on the same day. The camp will offer 10 per cent discount on medicines, opticals and pathology lab and 50 per cent discount on diabetic retinal diagnosis. The needy will be able to avail the benefits of this camp from 10 am to 2 pm, informed the chief executive officer of the hospital, Dr Pritesh Sonar.
