Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan held a meeting at Raj Bhavan on Thursday to review Marathwada’s water crisis. He assured the Marathwada JalSamruddhi Pratishthan delegation of his commitment to addressing the issue and accepted a memorandum outlining their concerns.
During the discussion, retired engineer Jaysingh Hire briefed the governor on the region’s severe water shortage. In response, Governor Radhakrishnan acknowledged the situation and directed his secretary, Dr. Prashant Narnavare, to hold a detailed discussion with the delegation. The two-hour session covered potential water sources, availability, and relevant government policies. The delegation raised concerns about the reduction of Marathwada’s rightful seven percent water share from the Jayakwadi project, allegedly diverted upstream through the Godavari Study Group. The governor assured them that a separate meeting would be held to address this issue.
