Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court comprising Justice Mangesh Patil and Justice Prafulla Khubalkar quashed the order of the Caste Verification Committee invalidating the Scheduled Tribe certificate of petitioner Suresh Supdu Salunkhe (Jalgaon, now Mumbai).

The bench ordered to issuing of a validity certificate of ‘Thakur’ from the ST category to the petitioner in the prescribed format. The petitioner was appointed as a constable in the police force from the ‘Thakur’ in 1988. He sent his certificate to the Caste Verification Committee in Nandurbar through his office for verification in 2013.

The committee declared his tribe certificate invalid on April 24, 2023. Following this, the office denied him a promotion and other benefits. So, he challenged the decision of the committee in the HC through adv Digambar Shinde.
