Aurangabad, June 227:

“All institutes and universities should collaborate with each other depending on strengths of respective universities and solve the problems of the society and make India a developed nation,” said Prof Anil Sahasrabudhe, the chairman of All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

He was speaking online in the 61st convocation day ceremony of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) hosted on Friday.

He said that there are many transformational and innovative ideas in the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which came into existence after 34 years, but the core lies in values, ethics and creating nationalistic selfless citizens.

“The NEP is a student-centric policy has provisions for early childhood education, emphasis on mother-tongue based early childhood education, and even in higher education, focus on skills, Indian knowledge systems, multidisciplinary universities, academic bank of credits and multiple entry and exits, support for research and innovation are some of the important student-centric features of the policy,” he asserted.

Prof Anil Sahasrabudhe said that the policy envisages transforming students into global citizens while keeping them deeply rooted in India’s history and culture and motivating our young graduates for national development entrepreneurial ventures and addressing unemployment.

He said that most of the AICTE initiatives undertaken from 2017 have found a place in NEP 2020.

“Starting from the vision of 5 Trillion economy on one side and Atmanirbhar Bharat on the other, set by the Government, NEP has come at the right time to catapult creating quality institutions, innovation culture and a highly skilled workforce. However, what is needed is to put in a robust system giving autonomy to institutions and focus on funding to the Institutions, faculty training programs for both inspiring them and providing emerging technology inputs,” he said.

He asked the students to recall that their mission for higher learning began here on convocation with great passion.

“It will not end until you feel fully confident of meeting uncertainties and challenges of the life’s laboratory and dealing with successes and failures with a positive attitude,” he said.

The AICTE chairman said that this university was inaugurated in August 1958 by Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India, today distinguished itself as a pre-eminent institution for imparting education.

“Bamu is committed to meet the educational, social, cultural and economic needs of the region to create a just and humane society and has contributed to the progress of adjoining regions and people in innumerable ways,” he added.
