Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
The City Chowk police station has registered an offence against Siraj Yar Khan Hasan Yar Khan (Mill Corner), Syed Tauqeer Hyder S K Hussain (Secunderabad) and Syeda Tasleem Fatema Mir Layaq Ali (Old Haveli, Hyderabad) for cheating a city-based couple for Rs 80 lakh by preparing forged documents of land proposed for selling in the surroundings of the district collectorate and the Subhedari Guest House. The accused from Hyderabad projected themselves as descendants of the Nawab.
The complainant Dr Rubina Nasiroddin Siddiqui runs a clinic in Baijipura. Her husband is a lawyer and the accused Siraj is their relative. Siraj introduced them to Tauqeer in June 2021 and told them that he is the relative of Tasleem Fatema, who is the heir of the Nawab. Siraj also informed the couple that the heirs have land near Subhedari Guest House which is for sale. To take possession of the land they have contacted the divisional commissionerate. He also showed a copy of the GPA to them.
Siraj claimed that the matter was sub-judice and requested to invest some money as there was a dire need for finance. In July 2021, Siraj offered them a 1200-square-foot plot near the district collector’s official residence or Rs 1.08 crore (the value of the plot).
Meeting the descendant and making investment
On September 18, 2021, a meeting took place at a hotel near Bhadkal Gate with Syeda Tasleem, the so-called descendant of the Nawabs. Entrusting her, the victim couple, initially gave Rs 15 lakh to her. In return, the accused provided an acknowledgement receipt. After that, the accused continued to demand money citing various reasons and collected a total of Rs 80 lakh over the course of a year.
Real face of the accused revealed
Since there was no movement from the accused, Rubina demanded the money. However, the accused kept avoiding her. When called Tasleem, she claimed that she did not know Siraj and Tauqeer. In May 2024, Nasiruddin Siddiqui went to Hyderabad. Upon reaching the address provided by Tasleem, he found that no such woman was residing there, and the couple realised they had been defrauded. The assistant police inspector Dilip Chandan is investigating the case.
