Jalna, Dec 9: Noted writer Laxmikant Pramanik died due to old age at a private hospital in Aurangabad on Wednesday. He was 85. He is survived by wife, two sons, two daughters and grandchildren. He served as the head department of economics in J E S College, Jalna. He wrote several poems and plays in Marathi and was a devoted Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh activist. His last rites were performed at Pratapnagar crematorium Aurangabad.

New market building in Jalna: MLA Gorantyal
Jalna, Dec 9: The state government has given a nod for the construction of Mahatma Phule Market building in Jalna, this was informed by MLA Kailash Gorantyal at a press conference.
Gorantyal said the urban development department has given permission to go start the construction of the market. He said the old market building was demolished as it was in dilapidated condition and construction of a new building has been pending for the last 20 years.
A meeting was held at Mantralaya in Mumbai, in which minister of state for urban development Prajakt Tanpure, health minister Rajesh Tope, chief officer of Jalna Municipal Council (JMC) Nitin Narvekar, and other officials were present.
Gorantyal said the urban development department asked the JMC to prepare the proposal of construction of the building and submit the same. The new market building will have all facilities, and would boost business and commercial activity in the town. Gorantyal said old tenants would be allotted shops from the building after fulfilling certain conditions.
Meanwhile, Jalna Vyapari Mahasangh welcomed the decision of the state government and appreciated Gorantyal’s efforts. President of Mahasangh Satish Panch, traders Sukhdev Bajaj, Vijay Kumar Gehi, Arun Bajaj, Anil Joshi, Rajkumar Kukdeja, Shaikh Rauf, and Sayyed Rahim felicitated Gorantyal at his residence.

Incharge tehsildar, talathi, kotwal land in ACB net

BEED, DEC 9: Incharge tehsildar of Wadwani tehsil office, talathi and kotwal were caught red-handed by anti-corruption bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 for releasing a seized sand loaded tractor and JCB without lodging the complaint at Wadwani on Wednesday afternoon.
The police said that the sand loaded tractor and the JCB of the complainant were seized by the revenue department. In order to release the tractor and the JCB the incharge tehsildar of Wadwani tehsil office Shrikisan Devrao Sangle (48), talathi Dhuraji Kachru Shejal (31) and kotwal Balu Anant Bidwe demanded Rs 30,000 bribe.
The complainant was unwilling to give the bribe. He lodged a complaint with the ACB. The ACB confirmed that the accused were demanding a bribe. A trap was laid by the ACB sleuths and three were caught red handed while accepting a bribe.
Under the guidance of Aurangabad division ACB superintendent of police Dr Rahul Khade and additional superintendent of police Dr Anita Jamadar the deputy superintendent of police Balkrishan Hanpude Patil, police inspector Ravindra Pardesi, police personnel Amol Baglane, Vijaykumar Warkade, Sakharam Gholap, Shriram Giram and Bharat Garde successfully conducted the operation. The process of lodging the complaint with Wadwani police station was on.
ACB arrests constable, retd home guard
Meanwhile, a constable with Yusuf Wadgaon police station in Kaij tehsil and a retired home guard were caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 9,000 in the premises of Yusuf Wadgaon police station on Wednesday afternoon for submitting the bail papers of an accused.
Accused Laxmikant Pawar (52) and Sheshrao Vairage demanded Rs 18,000 bribe. In the meantime, the complainant lodged a complaint with the ACB. The ACB sleuths organised a successful trap and accused Pawar and Vairage were caught while accepting a bribe.
