Aurangabad, July 5:

“One’s outlook towards drama changes while undergoing the drama training. Its training is the beginning of one’s introspection. This helps in the development of artist’s personality,” said Dr Pramod Yeole,

vice-chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu).

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the 9-day ‘Natyamanthan Mahotsav’ of the Dramatics Department on Monday.

Department head Dr Jayant Shevtekar, director Dr Duttatray Gaikwad and organiser Dr Ganesh Shinde were present.

Dr Pramod Yeole said that Marathwada gave many prominent artists to the fields of drama, movies and music. He said that many big changes took place in the theatre field in recent times and opportunities for research also increased.

“Theatre and film industries have affected from Covid while new platforms like OTT emerged for young artists,” he added. A total of lectures are being organised in the festival up to July 13. Dr Jayant Shevtekar spoke on ‘Nature and Concept of Drama.’

Dr Sanjay Patil, Dr Satish Pawde, Mangesh Bansod, Ashok Bandgar and others were present. Himmatsingh Negi conducted the proceedings while Yashoda Aher proposed a vote of thanks.
