Aurangabad, May 31: Shiv Sena MLA of Aurangabad Central Constituency Pradeep Jaiswal has been sentenced to six months imprisonment and Rs 2,500 fine on Monday.

The conviction came in a case where Jaiswal had broken the glass on the table of a head constable and threw the chair at the Kranti Chowk police station in 2018.

According to details, in the wake of riots in Aurangabad on May 11 and 12, 2018, the Kranti Chowk police had arrested two youths from Gandhinagar area. Jaiswal had gone to the police station at around 11 pm after receiving this information. Head constable Chandrakant Pote was on duty. Jaiswal asked him to release the arrested youths on bail. Pote told him that assistant police inspector Shaikh Akmal has arrested them and he will call the officer at the police station. API Shaikh immediately came to the police station. Meanwhile, Jaiswal asked Pote to stop the work and call the senior officers and also abused the police officers. He broke the glass on the table of Pote with a pen stand. Jaiswal was accompanied by around 8 to 10 activists.

On the directives of the senior officials, Pote lodged a complaint against Jaiswal for obstructing the government work, threatening the government employees and other sections. An Aurangabad court convicted the MLA in this case.
