Aurangabad, Oct 17: The state government provides funds to the people below the poverty line (BPL) for constructing houses under the Ramai Awas Scheme. However, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has only Rs 3 crores funds left for the scheme and it has been reserved for the beneficiaries whose constructions are in progress. Hence, Hence, the administration has kept the new proposals under the scheme on hold.

Ramai Awas Gharkul Scheme is run for the scheduled caste and Neo Buddhists through the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department of the state government. The government provides Rs 2.5 lakh funds for the construction of 325 sq feet area and the share of the beneficiary in it is 10 percent. The government has given the target of 4,157 house construction for the AMC, for which Rs 22.22 crores and Rs 29.05 crores, total Rs 51.27 crores funds were received. The administration selected 4,900 beneficiaries for the scheme. Presently, more than 2000 constructions are going on under the scheme. However, the administration has only Rs 3 crores balance with it. These funds will be utilized for the beneficiaries whose construction are presently in progress, informed deputy commissioner Sumant More.
