Panchanama: Agri officials record crop loss on 34,272.99 hectares due to downpour in dist.

Aurangabad, Sept 28:
The district superintendent agriculture officer (DSAO) Tukaram Mote today underlined that the crops standing on 34,272.99 hectares have been damaged due to excessive rainfall in the district from June to August. The ''panchanama'' of crops damaged in September will be done soon.

As per the on-the-spot inspection report, the loss of crops (along with area) are as follows: Cotton - 16,649.48 hectares, Soybean-545.57 hectares, Corn - 8,791.48 hectares, Bajra - 1,187.81 hectares, Tur - 321.18 hectares, Moong - 656.60 hectares, Udad - 375.09 hectares and others - 515.37 hectares.
The office also recorded the loss of vegetable crops standing on 148.66 hectares area. It includes leafy vegetables - 45 hectares, Ginger - 62 hectares, Green Chilli - 66 hectares and others - two hectares.

The assessment mentioning the loss of fruit plants standing on 4940.01 hectares has also been completed. The loss (along with area) includes Pomegranate - 4540.30 hectares, Sweet Lime - 352.71 hectares, Grapes - 8 hectares and Mango - three hectares.

The district had received rainfall beyond the expectation. As a result, all the water bodies got charged, and we are witnessing their overflowing, including percolation tanks. The standing pools of rainwater are formed in the farms due to downpour in the district. The small and petty farmers are badly affected due to the natural disaster. Following the demand of farmers, the state government ordered a joint inspection of crops. Hence the panchanama to assess crop loss was done jointly by the officials from the department of agriculture, revenue and Zilla Parishad.

Mote said, " The government will pay the compensation against the crop loss as per the categories. We have jotted down the details. Monetary help of Rs 6,800 will be sanctioned to farmers owing dry land, Rs 13,500 to farmers having orchids and Rs 18,000 to farmers cultivating fruits on their land. Meanwhile, the loss of crops held in September is underway."
