Aurangabad, June 14:

The air passengers travelling from the Chikalthana Airport alleged that Rs 20 is being charged for the drop and pick-up from the car owners. This is unjust and drop and pick-up charges are not levied at any airport in India, the passengers alleged.

At the Chikalthana Airport, Rs 30 is charged for the four-wheeler for parking for an hour and Rs 10 for two- wheeler. However, there is no charges for drop and pick-up. However, the contractor charge Rs 20 as fine if the vehicle stays for more than three minutes.

The drop and pick-up fine charges are levied as per the contract between the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and the contractor. However, the general public has no clarity whether the fine is charged as per the guidelines of the AAI.The people should know about it, the passengers claimed.

Aviation expert Ahmed Jaleel said, it is impossible to drop or pick-up the passengers in just three minutes. Physically challenged or senior citizen would find it more difficult. Even the normal persons could not complete this process in three minutes. Even if such charges are levied, the public should made aware about it and there should be clarity about the headings of the charges whether it is parking, entry or drop and pick-up charges, he said.

The airport director, D G Salve said, as per the rules, the drop and pick-up has to be completed in the period of three minutes. However, the people stay for longer period at the airport and hence they are charged fine of Rs 20, he said.
