Aurangabad, Nov 7:
A new building for district consumer redressal forum and state consumer grievance redressal circuit bench will be constructed at a cost of Rs 7.19 crore in the land adjacent to government milk scheme on Jalna road. Ten tenders have been received for this work. However, it has come to light that some leaders from Nashik and Aurangabad are putting political pressure on the Public Works Department (PWD) and contractors to withdraw the tenders and get the preferred contractor a contract.
On November 6, the PWD along with the divisional accounts officer called Baba constructions, Laxmi constructions, Malani Combines, YP Deshmukh, Sreehari associates, Classic associates, Star constructions, Aman constructions, Hitech Infra and K H constructions to the superintendent of engineer office for scrutiny and presentation of tenders. This has raised suspicion as no final decision has been taken to finalize the tender. According to sources, the public representatives of Nashik and Aurangabad are putting pressure on the PWD engineers. Contractors from other districts have withdrawn their tenders, while some local contractors have warned to go to court instead.
Demand to open all tenders
Some contractors are demanding the PWD that if tenders have been filled by 10 contractors, then all tenders should be opened. But the engineers are under pressure to give contracts only to the preferred contractors. PWD superintendent engineer Suresh Deshpande claimed that all the contractors were called today. But some did not come. The decision will be taken as per the instructions of the government. The e-tender process is being implemented transparently.
