Aurangabad, June 8:

As soon as the city was unlocked, the preparation for the ground breaking ceremony of the 200-bed women's and neonatal hospital, which has been on paper for 7 years, has started. The health department is preparing to complete the bhumi pujan within the next month.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has handed over the hospital project to the World Bank project. On August 29, 2018, the district collector transferred the land of Government Milk Dairy to the health department for the construction of the hospital. Subsequently, a proposal of Rs 138 crore was submitted to the government on February 11, 2019 for administrative approval through the district surgeon's office. On September 20, the construction of the hospital and staff quarters received administrative approval and as per the letter received by the administration on November 11, it was informed that a fund of Rs 111.89 crore was approved. The funds were transferred to the PWD. Subsequently, in February 2021, the tender process was expedited for the construction of the hospital. But the second wave of corona delayed the work. Preparations are now underway to hold bhumi pujan as soon as the outbreak subsides.

4 storey hospital building

The building will be 4 storyed, 84 residences and a dharamshala. The residences will be for class 1 to class 4 staff.
