Aurangabad, June 1:

The sleuths of Anti Corruption of Bureau caught red-handed a senior clerk from the office of joint director of Higher Education (Aurangabad division) while accepting a bribe of Rs 9,500 on Tuesday afternoon.

According to details, the complainant was a retired library attendant in Jalna. His files about retirement benefits were in the office of the joint director. The verification of the service book and other documents from the senior officer was necessary for retirement benefits. The accused, identified as Dnyanoba Baliram Nirmal (54, Matoshrinagar, Garkheda Parisar), sought Rs 9,500 from the complainant.

The retired library attendant made a complaint with the ACB. On receiving the complaint, the officers of ACB verified it through two panchas. Dnyanoba Nirmal informed them that he would not take money less than Rs 9,500. The ACB laid a trap in the premises of the joint director’s office at 4 pm.

The ACB officers and employees, who were in plain clothes, caught the clerk red-handed while accepting the bribe.

The process of case registration was underway. Police inspector S S Shaikh, constables Ganesh Cheke, Javed Shaikh, Gajanan Kamble and Dnyaneshwar Mhaske under the guidance of ACB deputy superintendent (Jalna unit) Ravindra Nikalje carried out the action.
